From IIT to Devotion: The Unconventional Journey of Abhey Singh

Traumatic Childhood: Shaping Destiny

In the bustling Maha Kumbh Mela, Abhey Singh, known as "IIT Baba," stands apart with his unique journey. A once-promising aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay, Singh ditched his scientific career for a life of spirituality.

"There was a mental health issue..." IIT Baba shares hesitantly about his childhood. "Domestic violence had a profound impact on me."

Despite the turmoil, Singh excelled in academics. "It was by Mahadev's grace," he says.

Spiritual Calling: From Science to Devotion

After IIT and a brief corporate stint, Singh felt the pull toward spirituality. He traded science for photography and arts before embracing a life of devotion.

"I used to escape the chaos by going to sleep and studying quietly in the middle of the night," Singh recalls.

Helplessness and Trauma

"As a child, you're helpless. You don't know how to react," Singh describes. "It shapes your beliefs and decisions."

When asked if his childhood trauma influenced his choice not to marry, IIT Baba chuckles. "Exactly. I saw enough conflict in my childhood. I thought, 'let me live a peaceful life alone.'"
